How to entertain with a European Trivet
We just got our new European Trivet Collection in and they exceed even our entertaining-loving expectations. Made of reclaimed timber from 19th century buildings slated for demolition these beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces have become permanent fixtures on kitchen countertops and buffet settings (including our own). We are very careful who we partner with here at Copper+Walnut, always striving to find craftsmen and women creating thoughtful, quality products and these trivets are no exception. In addition to their beauty, here are three ways you can use our trivets to create shared moments and memories in your home:
cros·ti·ni \krȯ-ˈstē-nē\ : an Italian appetizer consisting of small slices of grilled or toasted bread and toppings. The toppings may include a variety of different cheeses, meats, and vegetables, or may be presented more simply with a brush of olive oil and herbs or a sauce. Now if only we had the skills to make a crostini station as beautiful as the one above featured on designlovefest. This is the perfect option if you have a large trivet (this or this) and call a handful of friends who aren't in the mood for a heavy, sit-down dinner.
Who doesn't love meats and cheeses? This board is the perfect shape for two meats, two cheeses and (our personal favorite) some rosemary marcona almonds from Trader Joes. Throw in olives and add a honey drizzle or include this amazing bacon jam to kick things up a notch. Call a couple neighbors over or share with a couple before a light dinner. Oh, and don't forget the wine.
When you're having a friend over for a drink after work or someone pops by at the last minute we recommend this trivet and always keeping at least once cheese on hand. Rule of thumb for small cheese boards is usually one creamy, smooth cheese and one hard variety with more flavor or bite. Our favorite easy combinations include:
- triple cream+manchego
A sprinkle of nuts or figs will enhance your cheeses and grab a loaf of fresh crusty bread or simple water crackers that won't compete with your palette. If you're looking for a place to store bread or crackers check out our hand-carved vintage bowls. Along with beauty and quality we seek out partners and makers who share our passion for a richer, connected life. The couple who create these trivets are advocates for togetherness and time spent enjoying one another - and that's what we hope these pieces facilitate in your home.
